Every now and then I write a parody that I know we won’t ever make. This is such a parody. Why won’t we make it? Because the original is not nearly popular enough to justify the massive expense of recording a song and shooting a video. But if you want to see what might have been, enjoy my parody of K’naan’s “Wavin’ Flag.”
When I get Older
I will no longer
live at my mom’s house
Till then I’ll work for my dad
When I get Older
I will no longer
live at my mom’s house
Till then I’ll work for my dad
Economy’s bad
Economy’s bad
Economy’s bad
Suburban grown, to school I roamed
Lived on my own, but savings I’ve blown.
Now college loans, making me moan
Life I’ll postpone, Moving back home
Cuz after college I had the knowledge
I was sure qualified then.
Economy’s weak, outlook is bleak
Accepting defeat, to mom’s house retreat
Now I’m living in my old bedroom and
I’m wondering if I’ll wake up by noon.
Play X-box all day, sleep my life away
A living cliche of U.S. decay
When I get older
I will no longer
Live at my mom’s house
Till then I’ll work for my dad
Economy’s bad
Economy’s bad
Economy’s bad
So many chores, muscles are sore
raking the front yard blisters galore
I heard mom say, her car I could take
But my little brother took it away.
So I sit alone now watching my phone grow
even more quiet than a silence vow.
Where did my friends go? Am I the last bro
To live in this town, damn my life it has plateaued
Man I fucking bored, what’s going on?
And I can’t afford, account’s overdrawn
So I’ll swallow my pride, move futon inside
Try my best to hide how my dreams have died
When I get older
I will no longer
Live at my mom’s house
Till then I’ll work for my dad
Economy’s bad
Economy’s bad
Economy’s bad
(repeat)
(Student Lo-oanssss, Student Lo-oanssss, Student Lo-oanssss, Student Lo-oanssss)
And I’m never gonna pay them back
(Student Lo-oanssss, Student Lo-oanssss, Student Lo-oanssss, Student Lo-oanssss)
And I’m never gonna pay them back
(Student Lo-oanssss, Student Lo-oanssss, Student Lo-oanssss, Student Lo-oanssss)
And I’m never gonna pay them back
When I get older
I will no longer
Live at my mom’s house
Till then I’ll work for my dad
Economy’s bad
Economy’s bad
Economy’s bad (repeat out)
